Chapin High School recently announced the winners for two staff awards. Billie Williams was awarded Teacher of the Year, and Nurse Diane Arnold received the Support Employee of the Year.

This is Billie Williams’ third year working at Chapin High School. She teaches government and economics, along with current issues. She is also the Student Activity Coordinator for Chapin High’s award winning Student Government.

“I am so honor to be awarded Teacher of the Year. My students are so much fun and remind me of what is good with the world. I love coming to this school with my coworkers. It’s just a great honor to be given such an amazing reward” said Ms. Williams.

Not only is Ms. Williams thankful for her students, but her students are also thankful for her.

“She’s an amazing teacher and she’s done so much for not just her students, but all of Chapin High School. She puts in so much selfless effort and she definitely deserves this award” says junior, Josh Corning, who is currently in Ms. Williams’ student government class.

Chapin High School’s Nurse Diane Arnold, winner of Support Employee of the Year, has been working at Chapin High School for 16 years. She is always eager to help anyone in need, and is the head of Chapin’s Medical Emergency Response team.

“I was extremely humbled and pleased to be recognized for the work that I do here at Chapin High. It is always nice to be appreciated,” says Nurse Diane Arnold.

Patient, kind, and caring are three words that describes Nurse Arnold. As our school nurse, Diane Arnold is a crucial member of our school,” says Mrs. Longshore and Mrs. Schrank who nominated Nurse Arnold for the award.

Nurse Arnold helps students or staff with both chronic and urgent medical issues, and ensures that each student is caught up on immunizations. She communicates with outside agencies about any school outbreaks. Also, Chapin’s staff is always prepared for any emergencies because of Nurse Arnold.

“The greatest thing is being able to work with the best students and employees. It is special to make a difference in people’s lives and I am able to do that everyday,” says Nurse Arnold

Chapin is fortunate to have Nurse Diane Arnold and Ms. Billie Williams to help make sure that the high school is the best possible environment for its staff and students.
