Ho, Ho, Ho, lets go!
Christmas is in the air and is starting up early for students here at Chapin. Whether its movies, decorations, or even celebratory foods, the Christmas spirit is all throughout Chapin.
Although the cool temperatures were just starting in late November, Christmas ideas have already spread around. With that, several different factors contribute to the early occurrence of the holiday spirit, such as movies, foods, aesthetics, and overall favorites
Teachers at Chapin have participated in their very own December spirit week as everyone prepares to take mid-term exams before the Winter break.. Teachers dressed up in different styles to include: “Jingle Bells Day”, “Christmas PJ day,” an “Elf Day.”
Movies
Along with the excitement of Christmas , like the weather and clothing, Christmas movies seemed to become a popular element in the holiday season. Several movies bring back the sentimental memories of Christmas that all celebrators enjoy watching.
“My favorite Christmas movie is the Nightmare before Christmas, it brings back so much nostalgia for me,” said Emma Vermeer, a sophomore at Chapin.
“I really like the Grinch, I just really mess with it,” said Davion Williams, a junior at Chapin.
Foods
Multitudes of different kinds of foods are introduced at Christmas holiday dinners, whether its traditional food, or simply a normal meal. Families all gather together to celebrate with foods and drinks such as eggnog, gingerbread houses, candy canes, and dinner favorites such as Mac and Cheese and Turkey legs. We asked students what their favorite holiday foods/dishes to have on Christmas Day.
“I loved milk and cookies so much as a kid, even to this day to be honest, once I see the milk and cookies laid out I know its Christmas time,” said Nate Key, a sophomore at Chapin.
“Ooh, I really enjoy eggnog, I know its a unexpected favorite but I really do like it,” said Benjamin Haley, a senior.
Overall
Though there are different activities and hobbies that surround the “Christmas Spirit,” multitude of different reasons why Christmas is such a favored and enjoyable holiday are established. Many people enjoy Christmas for either family, friends, gifts, and more; However, it varies among people between what is their overall favorite “tradition.”
