Grab a snack, grab a treat, grab something sweet to eat!
Chapin High School’s vending machines for snacks and drinks are becoming more and more popular since the upgraded machines were placed into the schools. Chapin High has at several, at least 8 drink and snack vending machines, in the school. The machines were upgraded last year with the ability to take cash and electronic payments.
These machines are beneficial for when students don’t have enough time to bring water to school or if they are hungry or to get a cheaper lunch option. Students appreciate the fact that electronic payments are accessible now, however, it costs 10 cents extra to pay electronically.
Drink Vending Machine
“I really like Dr Pepper, and I like the electronic payment better. I never hold cash,” said Ricky Haines, a junior at Chapin. There are also Orange juices, apple juice, Mountain Dew, Dr. Pepper, Sprite, Body Armour, and different flavors of vitamin waters; each drink varies in costs. The flavored waters are around $1-$2 and the the sodas within it are $2. The Gatorades are $3.
“I really like the Gatorades, specifically the blue and red ones,” said A’Najzah Mayers, a junior at Chapin. She went on to mention how Gatorades were her favorite drinks in general.
Snack Vending Machine
“My favorite item is Swedish fish,” said Hunter Anton, freshman. He usually buys food from the vending machine because, “I like food,” he said. He can spend up to $12 a week on snacks in the machine.
“I like the original Lays potato chips,” said Thomas Griffin, freshman. “I normally buy stuff from the vending machine during power hour,” he said. Noting that he usually spends about $2 to $3 on what he spends.
“I don’t go to the vending machine often,” said Landon Mills, 9th grader at Chapin.
Cash
Although electronic payments are more popular and commonly used, some people still tend to pay with cash. Many people, although in high school, do not own a credit or debit card which makes the students bound to purchase them with cash.
“I personally don’t mind paying in cash, however, I do kind’ve typically pay with card you know? Cash isn’t necessarily bad I’ll still do it occasionally ” Mia Kratz, a junior at Chapin.
Poll:
A poll was conducted by the Journalism students at Chapin. The results represents the student’s perspectives on which snacks they dislike and like the most out of all the snack options.
