The Top 5 Olivia Rodrigo songs that relate to relationships–by Calli Bohannon
Olivia Rodrigo, arguably one of the biggest pop stars in the world at this moment, has written many songs about relationships. Some might argue that it’s the entire discography of her music hits. There are many different thoughts as to what her best songs might be, and most people cannot agree. However, I am here to share my top 5 Olivia Rodrigo songs that relate to relationships.
Coming in at fifth place, we have Drivers License. Supposedly being written about her ex-boyfriend, Joshua Bassett, dating another girl within a short period of time after their relationship. She discloses the confusion and hurt she feels from the situation in the song. This was one of her steps to re-brand herself after being a Disney Channel star on one of their shows: Bizaardvark.
Next up, at fourth place: Enough for You. Many people believe that her entire debut album is allegedly about Joshua Bassett, although she has never confirmed nor denied these rumors. However, in this song, you can infer that she feels betrayed and naive, as well as having her confidence destroyed by this person that has hurt her emotionally.
Now, to start off my top three, I believe the third spot belongs to Making the Bed. While it is not known which ex-romance she wrote this song about, it can be inferred that they had a mutual goal of trying to feel something real for someone, yet failing. She reminisces on the relationships while wishing she wasn’t numb to the feeling of their love. Whether it was real or not.
Now, as we zone in on the final two, my pick for second place is Logical. She sings about a relationship in which her significant other makes her question everything and wonder if she really is being insecure about how the relationship is going.
The song that is my top pick for relatable relationships is The Grudge. She slowly explains through her lyrics that even though she doesn’t like her ex she can’t stop thinking about him. She sings about how his supposed love for her and his actions affect everything in her life, even though she convinces herself she’s moved on.
