Is it in the face? Or in the hair? Top 5 women’s hairstyles for summer 2025: By Emma Cartwright

(Emma Cartwright)
As a high school student, I have always been around the pressures that the beauty industry puts on teenagers. I have always felt the need to blend in or “fit in”. Since I was in eighth grade, I have been cutting and styling my own hair based on social trends; and because I do my own hair, I am super obervative of how others do their own/style their own. This leads to the discussion question: What are the top five trending women’s hairstyles for summer of 2025?
1: Curtain Bangs
Curtain bangs have been a hit over the last couple of years. Women have been styling their hair lately to fit the “90’s Blowout” style which typically consists of airy curtain bangs and emphasized layers. Curtain Bangs are convenient because they can be styled in many ways, are easy to maintain, and aren’t as in the way as regular bangs would be. They are the perfect face framing piece.
2: 90’s Blowout
As previously stated, the 90’s Blowout is trending and perfect for any occasion, formal or casual. The haircut consists of layering on multiple levels to create exaggerated volume and texture. This style can be achieved using a blow dryer or curling wand(thicker barrel).
3: Caramel Highlights
Highlights have always been a major push for summer. However, the caramel or sandy color is perfectly toned for the summer vibes and heat. Highlights with a warmer undertone fit almost all complexions and perfectly match the summer heat and bright colors. This look can be achieved with bleach and warm toners/dyes.
4: Loose Curls/Beach Waves
We all love the beach, and with that, we all love a nice beach wave in our hair. The delicacy of the curls and the softness of the wave compliment the beach and relaxed vibes that summer brings. This can be achieved using a curling wand/barrel that is a thinner barrel, or a salt spray (but be careful, it’s drying).
5: Bayage
Balyages are perfect for summer. The hand-painted highlights create a beautiful sun kissed effect that leaves you looking like you came back from the beach every day. The beautiful blend of colors and the texture is gives are jaw-dropping. Plus, if you’re looking for a soft ombre, this can be pretty close to that effect.
