Another school year at Chapin is underway, kicking things off in style with our first spirit week during the second week of school — a beloved tradition that always brings excitement and energy to the halls.
Festivities began on Monday with “Anything But a Backpack Day,” as students showcased their creativity by carrying their school supplies in unconventional items ranging from laundry baskets to coolers. Tuesday featured “Generation Day,” with each class representing a different stage of life: Freshmen dressed as babies, Sophomores as college students, Juniors as parents, and Seniors as grandparents. The theme provided a humorous and engaging lens through which to reflect on the passage of time.
Wednesday brought a clash of aesthetics with “Country vs. Country Club,” while Thursday focused on unity and coordination with “Twin Day,” encouraging students to dress identically with friends. The week concluded with a celebratory finale on Friday: seniors participated in the much-anticipated “Toga Day,” while underclassmen embraced the season with “Beach Day.”
Participation was strong across all grades — even staff joined in on the fun, showing off their school spirit alongside students. When asked about their favorite day, one student, Senior, Julia Mikolajczyk, shared, “Generations day because I’ve been waiting to dress up as a senior citizen since freshman year, it was a lot of fun going to the thrift store to find the most grandma dress ever. Getting into and staying in character as a grandma all day was the funniest and most fulfilling thing, and giving Mr. Davis with others a cough drop was the cherry on top.” Another Senior student, Rodger King, also chimed in, saying, “I thought it was very engaging and brought us together as a community.”
Chapin’s school spirit is alive and well, and after such a successful kickoff, students and staff are already looking forward to the future spirit weeks.
