Mr. Johnson is a recent addition to the Chapin High School teacher family. He is an English teacher. This year will be his 27th year of teaching and he has worked at Chapin High School for 3 years.
Before he came to work at Chapin High School, he worked at Irmo High. “I think the community is smaller. Chapin is more of a community that grows up together, while at Irmo people are coming from all different areas,” said Mr. Johnson, when he was asked what makes Chapin different from Irmo. He was inspired to be a teacher because of the novel The Great Gatsby which he read in college.
Mr. Johnson graduated from Western Carolina, Eastern Carolina, and is currently enrolled at The University of South Carolina working on an advanced degree.
Something that makes him different from other teachers is that he remembers what it was like to be a teenager–which makes his teaching method more fun and fluid. Overall, Mr. Johnson has enjoyed his time at Chapin.
