Orchestra’s Senior Night
On Thursday May 16th, Chapin’s orchestra had their last concert of the year, which also served as their senior recognition night. The seniors played “Ashokan Farewell” and were given plaques to celebrate their time in orchestra. Awards were also given out. Olivia Sadorf won the Director’s Award, while Noah Brandon won the Nation School Orchestra Award. David Abdulrahman preformed a solo while orchestra director Mr. Lynn played a slide show with pictures of the seniors from their time in Chapin Orchestra.
This year’s graduating seniors are: Noah Brandon, David Abdulrahman, Kevin Nickens, Olivia Sadorf, Rachel Brim, Dalton Trout, Ali Frick, Andrew Crawford, Shannon Rychener, Brandon Donato, John Coleman, and Maddie Maylath.
Many seniors had mixed emotions about the end of their time in the program.
“I’m sad orchestra is over but also excited because the end of the year means I’m done with high school,” said senior Ali Frick, who has played in orchestra since 5th grade.
While some seniors will go on to play music in college, the final concert marks the end of their orchestra career for many, and the concert marks one of the last times the seniors will see each other before they graduate and parts ways as they enter college and the workforce.
“It felt amazing to win the Director’s award because orchestra has been such a huge part of my life,” said senior Olivia Sadorf, who has been playing violin for the past 9 years. “Orchestra has taught me a lot about hard work and music has become such a big part of my life. I’m sad that it is coming to an end by I’m excited to start a new part of my life.”
