The Chapin Claw brought home three awards from the South Carolina Scholasitc Press Assocation held at the University of South Carolina on May 2. Students from across the southeast entered journalism pieces in a variety of categories ranging from advertising to feature writing. Junior Brooke Bauer won first place overall for her home game fan picture. Senior Michael Melvin won third place over all for his editorial on sportsmanship. He also placed second in the spring competition for his editorial on Claw Cash. Sophomore Alison Galat won third place in the spring competition for her column on high school cliques.
