Every year at Chapin high school, a teacher is recognized by their peers for their outstanding performance. This year Dr. Lisa Ruth, science teacher, was chosen by staff members at CHS.
“I was honored, surprised and shocked. I didn’t expect it at all,” says Ruth.
Ruth is not only liked by her co-workers but students also love her.
“Mrs. Ruth is awesome! I really liked her class,” says senior Blake Neeley.
Being teacher of the year is a great honor but it is also a lot to uphold.
Ruth says, “It is a big responsibility and it comes with a lot of pressure but CHS is a great school and it is a huge honor to be recognized by my peers.”
Many students know Mrs. Ruth because of her environmental science class. She was always sending students after recycling bins.
Principal Ross says, “I’m very proud of Dr. Ruth. She’s an amazing teacher and deserves teacher of the year.”
While many teachers are striving for the position, its teachers like Ruth who always take the medal. A hard working, modest, and an all around good role model are definitely teacher of the year qualities!
