The first annualChapinHigh Schooltalent show is quickly approaching. It will be on April 28 located in the gym. The theme is “Moves like Jagger,” which was chosen by the student government members.
The student government is organizing the event. “This is our first year having a Talent Show so we’re all new to this but it’s all turning out pretty good,” said junior Bailey Gowans.
There will be a lot of talent including student body president Logan Schumpert who will be singing “How Great Thou Art.”
“I’m not doing this for any awards. I’m just doing it to go up there and have a good time,” said Schumpert.
Logansings at her church every Sunday and also sings with her grandfather so that prepares her for the up and coming show.
Setting up for the talent show is one of the biggest parts of making it all possible. Student government has a lot to get done in a small time. They have to call judges to get them to agree to come, hold auditions, come up with a set for the theme and advertise it throughout the school.
“It’s a long process to get all of this done but it will all be worth it when we’re finished,” said Gowans.
There are around seventeen acts that have signed up for the show but only twelve get to perform. The judges will decide who gets to go on to the show or go home on March 29th in the new gym is where they will hold the auditions.
Student government is expecting a big turn out because of all of the advertisement they have done for the last several weeks prior to the show date. “I think our turn out will be bigger than we realize because of all the advertising and mainly that people will be there to support their friends and see who has amazing talent that no one knows about. So people will be anxious to see who has talent that nobody would ever guess they would.” said senior Thames Jamison
