Chapin High School Welcomes Mrs.Magee
Chapin High has kick started the new school year and many students have noticed many new faces. One of these faces is the newest addition to the Chapin family, Assistant Principal Melissa Magee. She has joined the school to continue Chapin’s tradition of excellence.
Magee grew up in Irmo, South Carolina graduating from Irmo High School. She is a devoted worker, wife, and daughter of two children, one two year-old and one five year-old.
“I want people to know that even though I grew up in Irmo, I have always been close to Chapin and I am very excited to be here. I want my family to be part of this and to overall become a part of this community,” Magee says.
While Mrs. Magee is a new face at CHS, she is very familiar with the school atmosphere as she has worked most recently at the school district office for five years as the Coordinator of Special Services. While she had been successful in district coordination, special education teaching, and administrative assistant, Magee decided to continue her work as an assistant principal.
Magee has many tasks as an assistant principal at CHS. She directly supervises school facilities and operations, the school’s construction, and is in charge of 11th and 12th grade discipline.
“The hardest part about this job is that it is never done. You have your family life and then you have your job and your job turns into your family and you just embrace it,” Magee said when asked about the change that comes along with being the assistant principal.
As one of Magee’s main roles includes utilizing construction space.
“With all these new additions and the continuation of construction what our goal is now is to figure out how to best utilize the space that we have, not only for academics but also to involve families and the Chapin community to be a part of such a great facility.”
As Magee continues her work, she works along the administrative family which she says is her favorite part about Chapin.
“All the staff welcomed me with open arms and we are all a very close knit family which I truly enjoy,” Magee comments.
As the year continues students and staff are all excited to see what Mrs. Magee will be adding to the school with her role in construction and working alongside students. As Magee continues to become a part of the Chapin community and school family students and staff are all excited to have a new addition to the family.
