Cross-Country 2014 Season Review

Both teams finish as region champions and inside the top ten in the state.

Both boys and girls Cross-Country teams win their region.

Chapin Cross-Country recently wrapped up a strong season with their banquet held November 17th. The girls team finished as runners-up in their county meet and the Pelion Invitational. They were extremely successful in region competition, having won every meet since the start of region play and finishing as region champions. The girls finished fourth at the state competition, adding to their rich history of success. This resulted in their 28th consecutive top ten finish, a state record.

“It was a long season of hard work but in the end it was worth it, and it was a great bonding experience for all of us.” remarked junior Kayla Blankenship.

The boys Cross-Country team also qualified for state after failing to do so for the first time in Chapin history last year. All runners posted their best times of the year as the Eagles finished eight at the state competition. The boys also won region and set many personal records.

“We redeemed ourselves from last year,” said junior Alex Siegfried, referencing a disappointing 2013 campaign for the boys squad, “our team really improved.”

Kieran Schuerllete was awarded the MVP of the region meet and Alexa Golbus was named All State after the state competition. Congratulations to both teams on an outstanding season (Statistics received from the Chapin Eagle Club).
