CHS Welcomes Ms. McLeod
The Eagle family welcomed a new athletic trainer to their staff this year, Ms. McLeod. Ms. McLeod is very happy to be part of the Chapin community where she says everything is very welcoming and positive.
Ms. McLeod was born and raised in Jacksonville, FL where she was an avid soccer player. She attended Florida State University where she received a Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training and a minor in Psychology. After graduating, she then moved to Charleston to attend The Citadel where she earned a Master’s degree in Health, Exercise, and Sports Science. While attending The Citadel Ms. McLeod also worked as a Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer for their volleyball, Cross Country and Track & Field programs there.
Prior to working at Chapin High School, Ms. McLeod spent the past two years serving as an Assistant Athletic Trainer for Stratford High School in Goose Creek, SC. When asked what the major difference is between the two schools she responded with, “Chapin High School’s campus is much bigger and Chapin also has more athletic teams and sports that Stratford.”As an athletic trainer Ms. McLeood evaluates and treats student-athletes who are sick or injured to ensure they return to the field or competition safely. She also assists in referring the athletes to other medical professionals when needed. Ms. McLeod says she does her best to find ways to help student-athletes prevent injuries from occurring while participating in the sports and activities they enjoy.
