Preview Chapin Football 2016
In 2016 there will be many new faces on the field for the Eagles. Chapin will have to replace people in several prime positions after losing 14 seniors. Starting on the offensive side of the ball, they will lose their starting quarterback, starting running back, two starting wide receivers, and the starting offensive linemen. On the defensive side of the ball, they are losing a starting safety, both of the starting inside linebackers, as well as two starting defensive linemen.
Even with all of these losses, the Eagles do have some key people coming back. Returning in the fall will be Will Register, a 3 year starter and also a 2017 commit to South Carolina and All-State tackle and Will Webster that will be a 2 year starter and the leader of the Offensive Line and All-State Long Snapper/Wide Receiver who is a top 25 prospect in South Carolina for 2017. Also returning will be Jacob Wright a 2 year starter and an All-Region safety that had some huge games for the Eagle defense last year.
Some of the biggest new faces will be your new starting quarterback Trad Beatty, a rising junior who could be the next great player to come through Chapin. At 6’5 and 211 pounds, he has been described as a college coach’s quarterback dream. There are many more names that will be heard this fall, including Case Barber, who is making the move to running back and Taylor Lehman, who is playing both offense and defense. With the spring game coming soon, Chapin will give a glimpse of the team in 2016.
