Chapin vs Mid Carolina: Battle of the Bell Preview
Chapin and Mid-Carolina will open a new chapter in the ongoing rivalry between the two schools when Chapin travels to Mid-Carolina on Friday, August 26th, for its second game of the season.
Chapin is entering Friday’s showdown with a record of 0-1 after a 21-24 loss to River Bluff in their first game of the season. However, Friday will be the season opener for Chapin’s opponent, Mid-Carolina, since they were out of action in week 0.
“After that tough loss, we have really just decided that we are going to work hard and play together as a team to beat MC (Mid-Carolina)” said senior, Chandler Johnson, when asked what the team was doing to bounce back against Mid-Carolina.
Chapin played last week without its junior starting quarterback Trad Beatty, who had a shoulder injury. He will be returning this week for the Battle of the Bell.
In the season opener, there were some stand out performances from the Eagles like junior wide receiver, Xzavion Gordon, who had 12 catches for 212 yards and a TD. On the defensive side of the ball senior linebacker, Robert Bickley, had 12 tackles again River Bluff.
Without having any film from this year’s Mid-Carolina team we asked some defensive players what they have been preparing for this week. Mid-Carolina will look to “play fast and catch us deep when we are not ready for it” according to junior cornerback, Nick Price. Senior defensive end, Bryce Harrington, said “our plan is come out and play aggressive and hit hard.”
The game will be at Mid-Carolina High School at 7:30 p.m. on Friday August 26th.

Good story, but has some typos that should be looked over Mr. “Co-Editor-in-Chief.” Pretty sure Katherine wouldn’t make those mistakes… Good luck this year!
