Cross Country Has a Good Run
On September 28, the Chapin Cross Country Team competed at Pelion High School. The girls and boys finished 3rd overall and the boys were only 10 points from second. Three athletes from Chapin won medals in the top 15.
For the girls team, Meridith Ussery finished first for Chapin, also won a medal in the top 15 out of all of the schools that attended the race. Other competitors for the girls varsity team were Laura Layton, Catherine O’Leary, Mary Evans, Mackenna Bradley and Aimee Ahuja.
“It was fun, but I was really tired that day, and my time was not real good.”
For the boys, Jaden Kingsley finished first for Chapin, and both Kingsley and Kieran Schuetterle won medals in the top 15 overall. Other competitors for the boys varsity team included Connor Rasmussen, Parker Roof, Jack Hume, Javon Tiredo and Joseph Humphries.
Competitor Kieran Schuetterle says, “it was fun and really tiring, I blacked out but kept running. We got home really late, too. It was really fun.”
The next meet for the cross country team will take place at Crooked Creek Park on October 5th. This will be the Senior Meet. Seniors on this team and their parents will be honored at a ceremony after the race.
