National Signing Day at Chapin High
Wednesday, February 1st, marked National Signing Day where high school athletes will sign a letter of intent to move onto collegiate ranks. Chapin High School had five student athletes signed to the 2017 class.
First to sign was Mackenzie Whitman. She signed her letter of intent to play softball at Winthrop University. Mackenzie has played shortstop for the lady Eagles softball team since freshman year. Whitman is also an impressive basketball player at Chapin.
Next was Andrew Gallagher, who signed his letter of intent to Newberry College to play soccer. This is Gallagher’s first year at Chapin High School, but he was previously a standout for his club soccer team at South Carolina United FC and also on the Dutch Fork varsity soccer team.
Also signing was wide receiver, Kale Rhame, who signed to play football at the Charleston Southern University for the next chapter in his career. Rhame was a three year starter for the Eagles, and he was key factor in helping the team to a Upper State Championship earlier this year.
North- South all-star game offensive line selection, Will Webster, also committed. This Eagle decided to take his talents to Coastal Carolina University. Webster was a captain for the football team this year, and he helped lead the team to one of its best years in school history.
Last to sign was Shine Bowl tight end selection, Will Register, who signed with the University of South Carolina. Register was also one of the football captains this year and he was the highest ranked recruit to sign from the Eagles this year.
