The Ringling Brothers Make The Circus Disappear
After 145 years of bringing joy across the nation, the Ringling Brothers have retired their acts with an exhilarating performance in Columbia, South Carolina. Chapin students decided to take part in the celebration and head to the circus performed at the Colonial Life Arena in downtown Columbia.
Clarissa Ruff, a junior at Chapin, has attended the circus’ festivities three times since she discovered the thrill incorporated in each of the Ringling Brothers’ acts. She particularly enjoyed the death-defying motorcycle acts amongst the already electrifying performance.
The circus was a part of many students lives and the final performance evoked nostalgic childhood memories. Trey Haselden also has gone to circus since he was young and was overjoyed to get to attend the finale but also upset to see the circus leave since it was such a memorable part of his childhood.
Haselden joined the crowd at the Ringling Brothers final circus and commented, “I’ve been going to the circus since I was really young and I was really sad to see it go”.
