Legacy Week Ends with Mr. Chapin Pageant

Chapin High School is nearing the end of its Legacy Week for the 2016-2017 school year. On Friday, May 19th, its showcase event, Mr. Chapin, will take place in the Chapin High Gymnasium. The theme for the evening is History of Man.

“I think it is a great way to show hidden ‘talents’ from our student as well as raise money for a good cause,” said Chapin High teacher, Ms. Huckabee.

The contestants are expected to participate in a theme wear, formal, and talent round. At the end of the night the judges will crown a “Mr. Chapin” based on the score that the contestants has accumulated.

Many participants look forward to the talent round where the audience gets to see “the raw talent that comes out all the contestants,” said junior contestant, Cole Hodges.

Other contestants look forward to building new relationships during the practices and at the event.

“It’s a fun opportunity to meet new people and express yourself,” said junior contestants, Chase Haywood.

Not only is this a fun night for the Chapin community, it is also a great way to raise money for a good cause. This year the money “goes to a Chapin student battling cancer, and we are keeping the present a secret until next year at a pep rally,” said junior student council member, Josh Corning.

Legacy Week included a Splash Night, a Battle of the Bands contest and a movie night on the football field.
