Mr. Gerard

Mr. Gerard’s path to Chapin High school wasn’t a traditional one.

Mr. Gerard grew up in New York and attended the University of Kentucky, where he was a member of the swim team. He graduated with a degree in business administration from the University of Toledo in Ohio and spent 7 years in the business world. Later, Mr. Gerard wanted a change, so he earned a degree in Mathematics Education at Metropolitan State University of Denver.

He then taught at Ridgeview High School in Colorado for 15 years before moving to South Carolina. Mr. Gerard taught at nearby Blythewood High School, before coming to teach at Chapin. He chose Chapin because it’s a highly rated school and he wanted to teach at a school closer to his home.

Mr. Gerard enjoys teaching at Chapin because of the students and the community that the school has built. He also enjoys teaching Math because to him, Math is like solving a puzzle. Mr. Gerard’s current inspiration is his children.
