Chapin Runs At Disney’s Cross Country Classic
On Saturday, October 10th, Chapin High School’s Cross Country team competed in the 20th annual Disney’s Cross Country Classic meet at the ESPN Wide World of Sports.
The event attracts numerous Colleges, High Schools, and Middle Schools from around the country. The top runners from Chapin’s Varsity and JV teams arrived in Orlando Florida on Friday the 9th and returned on Monday the 12th.
The Varsity Girls competed against 35 teams and placed in 6th and the Varsity Boys competed against 40 teams and placed in 31th.
The JV Girls placed in 11th of 27 teams and the JV boys placed in 24th of 30 teams.
“It’s not only a chance to have a lot of good competition,” said Coach LeGrand, “but for the team to be in different situations together.” LeGrand also wanted to note that there was a heat index of 100, which made the race more difficult.
After the race, the team enjoyed visiting the Disney parks.
