3:10 the end of the school bell rings and finally school is over but after school its time for studying. A day of school and studying for many is and extremely busy, long and hard day. For Elizabeth Wright a normal day consist of attending school doing the same amount of homework that many people complain about, and on top of all of that maintaing a part time job at Zorba’s Express and changing diapers and taking care of her one year old child Marley Grace Wright.
“ I had Marley Grace at 16,” says Junior Elizabeth Wright. Many teens will let the mistake of becoming pregnant affect the rest of their lives.
Only 40 percent of teenagers who have children before the age of 18 go on to graduate high school, compared to 75 percent of teens from similar social backgrounds who do not give birth until ages 20 or 21.
A part of growing up is making mistakes, but the way a person handles the consequences shows what type of individual that person is.
“The past year of my life has changed tremendously and it has made me grow up a lot and take another look on life,” says Wright.
“I’ve taken on a new responsibility, and I overcame hardships, by keeping my head up and always staying positive to situations I get hit with,” states Wright.
While her life has changed, Wright has been able to keep balance in life.
Elizabeth is now carrying the title as Miss Chapin 2011. “In the end if you stay true to yourself and work hard something you will achieve it.”
Elizabeth is a great role model to teen moms and says, “If you make a mistake, take the consequences and make something positive out of it. Do not let it take control of your life.”
Elizabeth plans to graduate next year and attend college, after all the work she does each day she loves ending the night spending quality time with Marley.
