Is Roman the new Snapchat?
Have you ever wondered exactly what a friend’s reaction to your Snapchat was? Maybe you sent a really goofy face and you wonder if the “lol” they sent back was real or did they just say that? Well, the solution may have arrived with a new app called Roman.
Roman essentially does the same thing as Snapchat, except for one thing. Roman automatically takes a three second video of your friends’ reaction to your picture. You never see the video and only the sender of the picture will see your video reaction and then it too is gone forever.
“We wanted to make sharing moments more human. Part of the magic of sharing pictures in real-life is to see how your family and friends react to pictures. We wanted to recreate that experience through Roman,” said the app’s co-founder, Shawn Kanungo.
Whether this is a good thing or a bad thing… who knows? The idea is cool, but what if you open the picture in the shower without thinking about it? Or what if you’re stuffing your face with food as you look at the picture? You never see this video so what if it turns out to be something you didn’t want others to see? I guess the good part of the app is that you will never know. Only the person on the other end will. And if it really bothers you all that much you can always return to the “safety” of Snapchat.
