Deck the Halls
During Homecoming spirit week the classes are having a “Deck the Halls” competition where students will bring in as much decorations as possible to make their hall the best. Each grade has been assigned a theme for their hallway. Freshmen will have the theme “Chapin is Lit”, sophomores “Chapinville”, juniors “Under the Sea”, and seniors “Christmas.”
The reigning champion is the current Senior Class. Last year as juniors they went all out with their Halloween theme, this year they intend to go even bigger with Christmas. Senior president, Baylor Manley, gave us some insight on what we can look forward to this coming week, “We’re going to be using a lot of trees and a lot snow, and presents, and we’re going to have Santa! I’m very excited!”
Hoping to redeem their loss, junior, Logan Budzynski, said their plan is to bring the ocean inside. “There is going to be boats, we’re going to make the walls look like the sea, there is going to be a shark and in the mouth the opposing football teams that we play, we’re going to put their names in it.”
Sophomore Vice President, Chase Haywood, has high expectations for his class’ hall as well. “We’re going to have a lot of parrots and a lot flamingos and we are going to win because we have a lot of people showing up from our grade and we’re going all out and everyone is pitching in.”
After not participating in last years competition, the Freshmen class have a lot to make up for but, Freshmen President, Gresham Gunter, is not worried due to her “strategy”. She says,”It’s pretty much going to be a lot of fire and lights. We plan on using the least amount of space that we can and the most amount of materials so that we can to emphasize the fire.”
The halls will be judged on the final day of spirit week, Friday, October 2nd. What class do you think will win?
