Flood the Truck
Since the historic South Carolina flooding, many different fundraisers have been established to help the victims of the flood. However, one in particular stood out to the Chapin community. Two fifth grade girls from Neenah Joint School District in Wisconsin made it their goal to send a semi-truckload full of supplies to the SC flood victims.
The truckload of items was delivered to Leaphart Elementary School on October 14th. Chapin’s Student Government class, along with students from Irmo and Dutch Fork High School, went to Leaphart to help unload the truck of supplies. Supplies ranged from bottled water to medical supplies to tolietries. Flood victims were able to come to the school to pick up any supplies they needed.
Student government teacher, Ms. Williams, says “I am very proud of the Student Government at CHS and District Five for coming together quickly to make this happen. It was amazing to be a part of such a generous donation from two sweet girls in Wisconsin!”
When asked how she felt about the experience, Raegan Brizek says “Overall, it was great to see what we could give back to the community since the community gives so much to us.” This opportunity to help has impacted many students at Chapin High School.
