How to Prepare for AP Exams

How to Prepare for AP Exams

Chapin High School students enrolled in AP classes will be taking exams the weeks of May second through the sixth and May ninth through the 13th. AP exams can be a stressful time for students.  Because of this, necessary preparation is needed to calm those jittery nerves.

Purchasing a review book, such as “Barron’s”, “5 Steps to a 5” or “The Princeton Review”, could be a beneficial study tool to prepare for upcoming exams. In these books are realistic practice exams, an overview of the material covered in the exam and tips for one’s success in conquering College Board’s trickery. Many of these books are available for checkout at the CHS library.

What to do the night before, the morning of and during the exam:

  • Get a good night’s sleep.
  • Do not wait until the last minute to study. It can create unnecessary stress.
  • Eat a well-balanced breakfast to fuel your brain.
  • Bring black or blue pens and No. 2 pencils (mechanical pencils are not permitted)
  • Leave your cell phone or other electronic devices in your car or at home.
  • Remember to bring a calculator if your test type allows it.
  • Take a school or government-issued photo ID.
  • Do not panic when you do not know an answer right away. Take a deep breath and skip the question.
  • Bubble in all answers. You will not be penalized for guessing.

If you are unsure of your testing location or the date of your test, please ask your teacher. The link below shows the full schedule.
