2015 Chapin Soccer Season Review
Both soccer teams went to the Upperstate Championship with strong showings in the second halves of their seasons.
Both the boys and girls soccer teams at Chapin recently wrapped up their respective seasons. After both had successful runs late in the season, each team lost in the Upperstate Championship, both played on May 12th.
The Chapin Varsity girls team finished the season 20-5 overall with a 6-1 region record. Coached by Bob Taylor, the girls had an impressive 12-1 record when playing at home. Before losing to Dreher in the Upperstate Championship, the girls were on a 5 game win streak with their most recent victory coming on May 8th against Eastside.
“I think we did pretty well this year considering we lost a lot of seniors,” said junior Ava Bland, “we went a lot further than we expected to go.”
The boys team had a strong showing in the second half after a rough start. After starting the season with 5 straight losses, the boys received a boost when senior leader Jake Lochstamphor returned from a suspension and finished 7-2 in region play.
“I think we had a really good season,” remarked junior Turner Bonham, “we started off not being able to have everyone practice for the beginning of the season, and also given that there was an entire new coaching staff throughout the entire program.”
Congratulations to both teams on outstanding seasons!
