Chapin’s “Trashion” Show

Chapins Trashion Show

junk-to-funk-2On Tuesday, March 22nd, Chapin High School will present the annual Junk to Funk fashion show. Junk to Funk is a program that makes clothing out of reusable products. This year, students have also had the option to make sculptures. Students and art teachers at Chapin have worked to create spunky and original outfits made from bark, rocks, CD’s, book pages, coffee filters, and much more.

When asked about Junk to Funk, Katie Pfrommer, an art teacher at CHS, replied, “Junk to funk is a recycled runway show. The whole thing (Junk to Funk) is created by the art teachers and the students, and students can either make garments for the runway show, or make a sculpture to be featured in a slide showJunk to Funk.”

Chapin has been taking trashy to trendy for seven years by participating in Junk to Funk. This event helps promote recycling by showing how different resources can be used to make something new. Be sure to come and support CHS take its clothing line to runway!
