Lady Eagles tennis is back and ready to play. After 4 preseason games, the Eagle’s varsity team(1-3) is ready for their first regular game of the season against the Mid Carolina Rebels. The JV team (1-5) is also prepping for their first regular season game against the White Knoll Timberwolves.
Sidney Smith, a junior who is beginning her 4th year on the varsity team, is optimistic about the upcoming season. She said, “the season is going to be very different being 5A for the first time, but I feel like we all want to show that we can put up a fight against bigger schools. It’s going to take a lot of focus and determination, but we are looking like a well rounded team so far.”
Sara Kate Blalock, a junior on the varsity team who has been playing tennis for 6 years, also has high hopes for the season. “I am excited for the new season, and I think we will do well even though we are 5 A now,” she said.
Ava Stewart, a freshman on the JV team, though, is slightly worried about the switch to 5A. “I think the switch will affect our playing a little bit because we’re playing bigger and better schools. I think we will catch up though,” she said.
On Monday, the varsity team plays at Mid Carolina at 5 pm, and the JV team will play White Knoll at Chapin at 5 pm. Admission is free so make sure to show up and watch the Eagles soar.
