Signing Day 2019
Last Wednesday, February 6th, several Chapin High football players and soccer players revealed where they would be attending college to play their sport.
Alex Nelson, Jacob Drag, James Wells, and Trey Lyles were the football players to sign. Connor Wray, Emma Parker and Ava Ellis were the soccer players to sign.
Alex will be attending Catawba College, Trey will be attending Gardner-Webb University, and Wofford College will be home to Jacob and James.
Emma signed to Covenant College and Ava to Erskine College. While Conner Wray will attend Newberry College, and Tyler Martin will attend Columbia International.
“It was a cool experience to have most of the school there supporting you for your accomplishments,” said Alex Nelson. He will be a kicker and punter at Catawba.
James Wells said he was thankful for his, “parents for always supporting me throughout my life and all the coaches that pushed and believed in me.” “Lastly, I’d like to thank the middle school football coach for cutting me in 7th grade,” said James, who used that rough experience to motivate himself to become the player he is today. James will be a linebacker at Wofford.
