Seniors set for Disney

The senior class trip to Disney World is highly anticipated every spring. This year around eighty-five students will be attending the extended weekend.

With three park destinations, a massive party on arrival, and Chapins purchase of early entrance passes to the parks Friday afternoon, there seems to be more than a few reasons to attend.

Senior Taylor Fraser says “I’m excited about Disney World because I haven’t been there since I was five. I don’t remember all that much, but hopefully the trip will make me feel like a little kid again.”

But this chance to be a kid with all your friends comes with a price, three hundred eighty-five dollars. This price tag caused Brianne Dobson decision not to go, “I think it’s too expensive with college coming up.” Sarah Steele on the other hand says, “For the amount of time we’ll be going I think the price is reasonable.”

Others like Kelsey Springston decided to go because “previous seniors said it was the most fun they ever had.”

The seniors will be leaving April 23 and arrive at Disney around ten hours later, four p.m. After a couple of hours to settle in or hit the parks early, they’ll head to Disney’s Grad Nite, a seven hour party with Keri Hilson, Paramore, and All Time Low. Also, a few select rides will be open that night including Space Mountain.

On Saturday the seniors will have from nine a.m. to four p.m. to play at Disney Hollywood Studios then at six have the option of going back or heading to Downtown Disney until about ten p.m. with a curfew a little before midnight.

All day Sunday will be spent at Epcot with a firework and laser show to end the evening.

The seniors will arrive back in Chapin afterschool on Monday.

Irmo High has Cancun, and Dutch Fork doesn’t even sponsor a senior trip, so it comes to the question, why Disney World? Walt Disney said it best himself, “It has that thing – the imagination, and the feeling of happy excitement – I knew when I was a kid.” And who doesn’t want to be a kid for a little bit longer?
