The Chapin Varsity Basketball Team has some buzz surrounding it during the preseason. With a move up to 5A and a less competitive schedule there are some good expectations for the basketball team this season.

Former Spring Valley  junior forward Maddux Harrel transferred in and will help the team tremendously. Chapin is also returning Seniors: Jason Graves, Michael McNeal, Jarrod Kelly, Cole Edenfield, Johnny Fisher, and team captain Sam Beckett.

Harrel said, “We are just taking it game by game, practice by practice and getting better. There is no reason we can’t win all 25 games.”

“I’m excited to see what we can do and prove the doubters wrong,” said Senior captain Sam Beckett.

Chapin will be co-hosting the Battle of the Dam tournament, along with Lexington High School. The first game of that tournament will be Chapin vs. Eau Claire tonight at 7:30 at Chapin. This will give the team a chance to show off their new uniforms in front of the home crowd. The game will also be streamed on CSPN for viewers at home.
