“What is your athletic background?”
Coach Rhodes: “I played football at the University of South Carolina from 2012 to 2014. I ran track and played football at Western Carolina in 2010. In high school I was apart of the football, basketball, and track teams.”
“What qualities do you bring to the position that the student-athletes will appreciate and admire?”
Coach Rhodes: “I have the knowledge of sacrifice and commitment. I have been there in their place. I understand the work and dedication it takes to reach the next level and accomplish the goals that they set out before themselves.”
“How does playing on your team enhance the educational experience of your runners?”
Coach Rhodes: “Students are able to connect with their peers in a different way other than the classroom. They hold each other accountable in all aspects of life.”
“How important is it for your team to win?”
Coach Rhodes: “It is a goal to make it as far into the season as we can, but that is only done if each individual progresses to their maximum potential. Our major focus is that the individual gets better and has a positive experience that prepares them for success at the next level of life. Developing out student athletes skills which will enhance our overall team performance is our main objective.”
“What are your expectations for this season? Any superstars you expect to really do well?”
Coach Rhodes: “We are a very well rounded team.”
“How do you promote and encourage your athletes to make a commitment to academic success?”
Coach Rhodes: “Reminding them that they are student-athletes and that ‘student’ comes first. It doesn’t matter how exceptional they are on the track, if they do not have the grades to maintain eligibility its all for not.”
