Pre-season Top 5 Rankings for College Basketball
Brandon talks about the preseason rankings as he goes “Above the Rim” with college basketball
With the college basketball season closing in NBC Sports put out a pre-season rankings table for every college basketball fan to see. A lot of people were surprised as to where some teams landed in the rankings for the upcoming season, but nonetheless they are eye opening.
Coming in at #1 is the Michigan State Spartans. Although Matt McQuaid, Kenny Goins, and Nick Ward have left, Cassius Winston decided to stay one more year for the Spartans in hopes of bringing a Championship to Michigan State.
At #2 we have the reloaded Kentucky Wildcats. With P.J. Washington, Keldon Johnson, Tyler Herro, and Reid Travis gone not many people believed they would be ranked as highly as they are now. The key players that made the impact as to why they are ranked so highly are none other than the newcomers to Kentucky basketball, Tyrese Maxey, Kahlil Whitney, and Keion Brooks.
#3 would be the Kansas Jayhawks. They have a bunch of returning players such as Devon Dotson, Udoka Azubuike, Marcus Garrett and more to show the country that they can take on the challenges.
At #4 we have the Louisville Cardinals. This ranking was a surprise for most people seeing as they were not ranked as highly last season. The projected starters however make the statement as to why they are ranked so highly. The projected starters being, Fresh Kimble, Samuell Williamson, Dwayne Sutton, Jordan Nwora, and Malik Williams.
Finally, we have Villanova taking the #5 spot in the preseason ranks. The projected starters for this squad has a little mix of veterans as well as youth. The projected starters are, Collin Gillespie, Bryan Antoine, Saddiq Bey, Jermaine Samuels, and Jeremiah Robinson-Earl.
This upcoming season of college basketball will be another one for the history books. So I suggest you sit back, relax, and enjoy the show that is about to begin.
