As seniors are wrapping up their last year at Chapin High School, juniors are preparing to step into their place. Juniors are getting all sorts of different advice on the best way to prepare for their senior year and especially for the years after High School.

Shelby Waites, a senior at Chapin, says that juniors should prepare to make a lot of college decisions.
“Apply as soon as possible and get ahead on college stuff before you get too busy,” Waites says.

Waites explains that she wishes she would’ve applied to college earlier. Darby Toole, senior, agrees.
“Apply early because it’s easier to know where you’re going ahead of time,” Toole says.

According to Toole, senior year is a lot harder than it seems.
“A lot of people say senior year is easy but it’s not.”

She also explains how she took mostly AP classes her senior year. In Toole’s opinion, it doesn’t make sense to slack off and go straight into college.

“High School isn’t that serious anymore, so don’t spend your entire senior year involved in high school drama. Nothing other than your college situation matters,” Toole advises, “Save your absences too.”

A teacher’s opinion on the matter is vital to students because they have experienced seniors coming and going, trying to figure out their plans.

Mrs. Yong, math teacher, says “A lot of people want to have their senior year easy because they are done but when they get into college they can’t keep up because they took a break for a year.”

Senior year in high school is a reflection of freshman year in college. According to these seniors and teacher, slacking off is not the best option but preparing for college in advance is.
