The Chapin NJROTC Unit continues to thrive as a student-led program where cadets take charge, step into leadership roles, and develop the discipline and dedication that NJROTC cadets are known for possessing. Cadets work hard each day to embody the values of leadership, respect, and responsibility—core traits that define the Unit.
One of the most active and memorable groups within the Unit is the Chapin NJROTC Drill Team. For many cadets, this team provides a challenging yet rewarding experience that builds confidence and teamwork.
Throughout the year, the Drill Team travels to various high schools to participate in competitive drill meets. At these events, cadets perform different drill cards, each containing a set sequence of movements such as about face, right column, left column, to the rear, and parade rest. Some rounds also involve rifle drill, including commands like right shoulder, left shoulder, and present arms.
During competitions, current Navy cadets conduct inspections to evaluate the team’s position, cover, alignment, bearing, and overall discipline. The scores and feedback help cadets grow, improve, and continue strive for excellence.
