Promposals: cute… or nah?

It’s about that time of the year again; prom. And what does this mean for the students of Chapin High School? Promposals. Students are getting asked to prom in fun and creative ways left and right, but what are their thoughts on it? Is it too much to ask of a guy to come up with some unique way to ask a girl or is it necessary for the girl to say yes?

“I think the promposals are cute. But I wouldn’t necessarily say no if a guy didn’t ask me in a cute way. All guys are different and some may feel uncomfortable with the attention a promposal brings, so it might be too much to ask of some guys,” Senior Hannah Jones said.

“They’re too mainstream; people need to get more creative,” Sophomore Smith Dawsey said.

“They should be special because you will remember them for the rest of your life,” Junior Carly Bouknight said.

“If you’re going to do it, do it big,” Senior Brett Alvarez said.

“I think that for the most part they are cute but sometimes it’s a bit overdone,” Sophomore Chloe Bagley said.

“Girls’ expectations are way too high,” Junior Beau Schelble said.

“Prom proposals are super sweet and show how much you want to go to prom with that special girl, but just asking and not being creative about it would give the girl the impression that the night would be boring too. I don’t think prom proposals are too much or overdone, it just shows the girl how much you want to go with them,” Freshman Abby Cook said.

Everyone has different opinions on the promposals, but for now they continue to occur as prom grows closer. The pressure is on for the guys, but they have done a great job so far, wowing the girls with their creativeness. A few that have already taken place at Chapin.
