The NCAA’S 2024 Regular season has come to an end and now it’s that time of year that we’ve all been waiting for… IT”S MARCH!!!

The month of excitement, heartbreak, and pure joy. Time to watch the best collegiate basketball players in the world go at it all in hopes for the title. The Uconn Huskies are the clear top dog in the tournament with a very strong 31-3 record.

They are coming off a dominant championship run in the 2022-2023 March Madness tournament and are thirsty for back to back titles. Millions around the country have the Huskies winning it all for the second straight year but you never know in March. The 64 teams go up against each other all in hopes for the title and any of them could win. Brackets are always busted usually by the first day due to a Cinderella upset.

The world always loves to see an underdog take home the win. The odds of a perfect bracket is a near impossible occurrence. With all the combinations and factoring in the unpredictable upsets the odds come out to about 1 in 9 quintillion. Which is almost impossible. On Wednesday March 20th the players all were interviewed at the player’s and coaches’ conference and asked about what they’ve done in preparation for the tournament. The players are all filled with supreme confidence and high hopes for the championship. #1 Seed North Carolina’s star player R.J Davis was asked his thoughts about being back in the tournament and is there any pressure being a #1 seed. He said “ First and foremost it’s a blessing to be back here and we just have to do what we do every game… execute, and we’re hungry to win.”

Students have been catching March Madness with many of them filling out brackets online and on paper.

Kaden Anderson, senior, has filled out a few brackets. He has filled out 75 brackets–25 brackets over three different accounts. “The upsets are the most exciting thing about March madness and the Cinderella runs,” he said. (This is when teams that are not expected to go as far, such as St. Peters which made the Elite 8)

Katherine Haigler, a  junior, has filled out brackets with Purdue taking the men’s tournament and USC taking the women’s tournament. She fills out online brackets every year.

Braeden Hill, senior, has filled out a bracket for the men’s tournament. He has picked Duke going all the way. He completed his brackets online and on paper.

The Tournament begins on Thursday March 21st at 12:15 PM. Everyone is ready for the first tip off, awaiting a champion. Who will the 2023-2024 Champion Be?
