A group of Buddhist Monks have started a journey to walk across the country from Fort Worth, Texas to Washington D.C. They plan to cross 10 states and walk 2,300 miles. The trip is supposed to take around 120 days to complete but this can be affected by weather conditions.

Last weekend on January 10th they walked through the Midlands of South Carolina. They were seen throughout Lexington and Columbia. A group of people gathered at the state house to speak to them. The Mayor of Columbia Daniel Rickenmann also greeted the monks and spoke to the crowd. People greeted them and gave them gifts and support. However, there have been some problems, there has been a car accident causing injuries while they were still in Texas but they continued on.
The monks have become increasingly popular on social media. Many people are greeting them as they walk through cities and recording their time. Their rescue dog Alkoa has also gained popularity and love from TikTok, Facebook, and Instagram.
But what is their goal when they get to D.C.? Their goal is to spread peace, love, and compassion through the nation. They want to spread this kindness through the country in a time of division. Their hope is to remind people that peace is not a one time thing but a long journey.
