With a record of 15-5 in 2015, Chapin High School Men’s Soccer is ready to take on this year’s competition. They were able to conclude the past season with the title of region and upper state champions.

Smith Dawsey, a center forward and current senior at Chapin High School, said, “We lost two good seniors at center back so we will have to shift around to find a way to fill in those spots but other than that I feel like we should be better than last year.”

Jason Shaffer, Connor Walpole, Jack Hattaway, Jack Starkey, Nate Blankenship and Jake Lochstampfor were all seniors for the 2015 spring season. Losing these upperclassmen will take an impact on the backline, but with a new few players coming in from Irmo High School, the boys believe they will be able to win their third state championship this year.

Cooper Woodham, a junior at Chapin High school, said, “Since we weren’t able to finish last year, we will be more motivated to do it for our past teammates and for us.”

Chapin Men’s Soccer’s first match is non-region against Lexington High School on February 16.

Chapin Soccer’s Josh Corning visited two cities, Cologne and Koblenz, in Germany January 12-18. His club team, 99 South Carolina United Football Club Boy’s Elite, made up of players all around South Carolina, went for a tournament known as the Keramik Cup. Their first game was against Karlsruher SC e.V. on January 16. Although they lost five games, they won their last match 3-0. Josh said, “It was an experience that I will never be able to forget.”
