Chapin Cheer Captures Three-Peat

Another year, another State Championship for Chapin Varsity Cheerleading (CVC). CVC won their 12th State Title by winning the Class 4A title this past Saturday, November 19th, at Colonial Life Arena.

With this State Championship Chapin now has 12, giving them the state record. For Coach Vicki Williams this is her 11th State Championship with the Lady Eagles since her first title in 2003.

Chapin scored a 352 out of 390 possible points which is the highest in school history. Assistant Coach Billie Williams said “we had 15 freshman so it made it tough to pull it off, but the girls really came together to win,” when asked about the team scoring so highly.

Senior, Shay Daley, felt that this team was different from the ones in years past because “this team worked an ungodly amount of hours to prove we are the best. This has definitely been one of the most determined teams.”

In order to prepare for the State Championship, the Chapin cheerleaders started practicing in August. Throughout the season, the girls practice from four to seven days per week, for a minimum of two hours. The team works on tumbling, stunting, and conditioning in order to perfect their routine.

“It means that all the hard work has finally paid off. All of the long practices and injuries end up being worth it as soon as Dr. Ross puts that medal around your neck,” says junior, Lexi Hoeve.

“It’s a great feeling. Finishing off my last year on top. It’s indescribable” said Senior, Shay Daley.
