Battle for the Bell
The first game of the new football season was kicked off on Friday, August 25th with the annual “Battle for the Bell.” Chapin High School and Mid-Carolina High School battled it out on the field for the chance to take the bell back to their school. For the last six years Chapin has been victorious. This year Chapin claimed the bell with a 17-13 victory. When asked about preparing for the game Giovanni Macaluso said, “I feel like the team was very prepared for MC all week at practice, so we knew what to expect from both their offense and defense. Mentally I think the was was prepared as well. We knew what the game meant to not only the school but the town.”
During Friday’s Power Hour the pep club put together a 30 minute hype session for the student body to encourage the students to come to the game. Macaluso also said, “I though the student body turn out was incredible. The student section was huge. They were very loud on the field, and I loved how hyped they remained throughout the whole game. I hope we can get that same turn out at every game this season.”
Friday’s Game on September 7th against Newberry High School will be the first home game of the season.
