Frustration with Technology-Opinion
Frustrations with the school and the unreliability of the technology had students at Chapin High reeling. In early January the Wi-Fi, district wide, fluctuated between operating and not working. The District eventually was able to work out the issues, but not before devices were rendered essentially useless for a period of time. Students had to rely on their own Data plans or try to find a district device that would connect with the system. Teachers either had to extend deadlines or return to the days of paper and pencil for students to complete assignments.
In the intervening time, students have been feeling conflicted about what is right and what is wrong and how fickle the different teachers opionins. Some teachers love the technology and some don’t use it. We just want to be able to complete our assignments.
Ultimately, the disadvantages outweigh the benefits. Google Classroom, Edmodo, iPads, the list goes on and on. I prefer paper.
