Chapin Softball 2019 The Move to 5A

The 2019 Softball season is almost underway with the first game being held on February 22nd in the Snowball Tournament at Chapin High School. The Lady Eagles will be up against tough competition after being moved to 5A.

Head Coach Calvin Sayger said, “Our main goal will be to compete at a high level with a sound defense and have our batting reach its potential before the regular season begins.”

Coach Sayger also said the biggest obstacle will be the team coming together as one program.  “We will have many younger girls in the program that need to step up quickly for us to reach our potential.”

“We will be facing better competition so there will be more pressure naturally, but this group of girls are determined to make a splash in 5A. The work ethic of this group is very impressive,” said  Coach Sayger.

Coach Sayger said, the team has a chance at making a deep run in the playoffs and possibly winning a championship. “Absolutely we have a chance to make a run in the playoffs and play for a championship,” he said. “We play a very strong region that will have playoff caliber teams, which will help us prepare for a deep run, we just have to take care of business first, one game at a time.”
