Morgan Weaver, soon-to-be Student Body President, said, “The amount of spirit Chapin has and the involvement of the student body pushed me to want to be student body president. It’s a position I’ve always wanted to run for, but coming to student government as a freshman and seeing the way the president gets to uniquely interact with the school drove me to want to run even more.”

According to Ms. Williams, the Student Body Adviser, the objective of the class is to actively encourage and vigorously support individual and collective involvement of the Student Body in Extra Curricular Activities; to actively seek and diligently represent the opinions, ideas and concerns of the Student Body; to establish and maintain positive working relationships with the Administration, Faculty, Parents, the Community at large and other Schools in and out of the district on behalf of the student they represent; and to provide support for and to coordinate the efforts of the Clubs and Organizations duly constituted at Chapin High School.

“I know Chapin is the best school in the nation, and I truly believe next year we can get some more publicity for our school. We will have to focus more on getting the name of Chapin out next year and letting people know how great we are,” said Weaver when asked if she has any ideas of how she can improve Chapin High School for next year.

This year the CHS Student Government entered the Varsity Brands School Spirit Awards, an organization that will reward schools, school groups and individuals who go the extra mile to build school pride, student engagement and community spirit. Each winner will be honored with up to $1,500 in prize money! Chapin’s Student Body is a national finalist. Information regarding first place winners will be released at the beginning of May.
