Fellow Students,

It is hard to believe that we have already completed our first nine weeks of school, the time has just flown by. From our Toga Pep Rally to our Homecoming Dance, there were many great events that took place. I believe our best showing came when WACH Fox featured our school in their “Spirit Squad” promotion. Even though they came at 5:30 a.m. on a school day, the amount of participation and spirit shown by you the students was incredible. It was a great day for Chapin High School as we were able to spotlight what makes our school so successful on a daily basis and we did so in a positive way in which the entire Columbia area was able to witness.

Now time to answer some questions that I have been fielding from a lot of you regarding some different aspects of our daily school           life.

1)      Q: When are we getting “Fast Food Fridays” and our “Jukebox”?

A: For the jukebox, the speakers are in and the technician has set them up and we look forward to playing the music you, the students want to hear during lunch. Regarding “Fast Food Fridays”, we in the Student Government class, have had difficulty getting local businesses to come and sell after school, but we will continue to work dilligently to bring this to fruition.

2)      Q: What is the deal with parking?

A: The parking “problem” is not a problem at all as long as the rules are followed. The navy blue headers are for seniors and the gold headers are for the “Sprit Spot” winners. Our seniors have been through a lot reagrding construction throughout their high school carrer and will only be able to enjoy the fruits of the new school for a short time before they graduate in June, the least they deserve are reserved senior parking spots.

3)      Q: How are we supposed to hear announcements?

A: The long term plan is that we will have a broadcast program that will share the news and happenings going on around school, but until that program can get off the ground we have a reliable stream of announcements. The webpage of Chapin High School has an “announcement link” that will give you all the information you need to know about everything taking place on a daily basis.

On a final note, I encourage each and everyone of you to be active in our school community whether its in athletics, fine arts, or one of our many clubs. Chapin High is a great place to be and can only remain that way if we all do our part and contribute our talents to the betterment of not only ourselves but for our dear old school as well.
