Rejected Cartoons

A longtime favorite of keyboard warriors, animator Don Hertzfeldt’s Rejected Cartoons is a definite Youtube essiential. Clocking in at an impressive nine minutes and twenty-two seconds, this short utilizes a lethal combination of randomness, original humor, and brilliant writing to keep the laughs constant from the first scene. Whether it is the Silly Hats Club’s unexpected disposition to violators or the questionable appearance of the Banana, Rejected Cartoons appeals to a wide variety of audiences.

Mike Gundy Rant

Story continues below advertisement

Three years ago, Oklahoma State Head Football coach Mike Gundy made national headlines by criticizing a newspaper writer’s article about one of his players. The video of his press conference became an instant Youtube hit. The original conference spawned numerous parodies, including prank callers using Gundy sound bites, mock press conferences, and a strange car dealership commercial. However, none of these pretenders can match the prestige and hilarity of a respected college coordinator blasting the ethics and morals of a local reporter.

The Juggernaut

The first Juggernaut parody created by My Way Entertainment is perhaps one of the most vulgar, yet classic creations to be found on Youtube. It is not suitable for children.  Born on the hype of the final X-Men movie in 2005, this video flourished in the early days of everyone’s favorite video broadcasting and sharing website. This parody took its footage from the X-Men animated series from the early 1990s and shopped custom audio from My Way’s studio into the video. The transition is so convincing and enjoyable it can easily be passed off as the original without hesitation.

Techno Dancing

It wouldn’t be a true Youtube classics list without Chapin’s representation. Chapin seniors Colden King, Dylan Matthiessen, and Chris Ricketson created a techno dancing video to My Odyssey by Scarf! four years ago. The usage of rip-away pants quickly drove the entire school to Youtube to watch it. Not only did it gain a large following in the Midlands, the video rose to fame elsewhere. While the original was deleted from Youtube, it was brought back by an unknown fan who posted it to keep the memory alive. It still holds a five-star rating in the eyes of its dedicated fans.

Bat Fight

Bat Fight, starring comedians Will Ferrell and Craig Robinson, is not as well known as some of its fellow Funny or Die skits, but it brings the greatest bang for its buck. The short features a musical number sung by Ferrell narrating an impending brawl with his rival. The point-blank humor and the unexpected climax of the video makes it a must see for all of those who have not been graced by its excellence previously.
