Once Halloween is over, some people believe that the Christmas Season has started. It is almost as if a switch is flipped from Halloween, straight into Christmas. This is proven in the stores, online shopping and even commercials on TV.
At Chapin, the staff of CSPNEagles.com were just as varied, so we looked to Chapin students to shed light on this topic.
Some say Christmas starts right after Halloween.
Chapin Highschool Junior Makenzy Rushton, says “Christmas season starts the day after Halloween, absolutely 1000%.” She believes Thanksgiving is just a halftime for Christmas. She states, “ November-December is Christmas, Jesus was born and he needs 2 months.” Makenzy plays Christmas music everymorning on the way to school and during lunch with her friends.
Chapin High School freshman Alex Kunstman, believes that Christmas starts right after Halloween. He said, “Halloween is over and Thanksgiving is not a season, it’s a day.” Kuntsman was playing Christmas music while in the hallway and even wore a Santa-style hat to school right after Halloween.
Others say Christmas starts after Thanksgiving
“I believe that Christmas starts after Thanksgiving because you need a little time in between Halloween and Christmas. I believe that the holiday season starts after Halloween, but you have to get through Thanksgiving first. I think it brings more spirit and excitement,” said Grace Ridgeway.
Mary-Kate Tisdale, said “I believe that Christmas starts after Thanksgiving because I think it is just way too early. I feel that if all the Christmas things start right after Halloween, then it ruins the excitement because it is just dragged on too long and all the Christmas stuff just gets old. But if it starts to be celebrated after Thanksgiving, it is the perfect period of time before Christmas.”
Gracie Kokolis, a Senior, says that Christmas starts after Thanksgiving because you cannot skip thanksgiving since it is an important holiday. She states that she enjoys thanksgiving because of all of the food and traditions it holds. “Christmas starts the second it hits 12:00 Thanksgiving night” she states.
Christmas for some doesn’t start until school is out for Christmas break
“I believe that Christmas doesn’t start until Christmas break. Before break, students are focused on exams and other assignments in school that they cannot be in the holiday spirit,” said Senior Hunter Ellison. So when school gets out for break, students can relax and enjoy Christmas because it is now Christmas break.”
“I believe that Christmas doesn’t start until school is out for Christmas break,” said Kendall Brown. Drew Patrick, a Chapin High School sophomore also has the same opinion as Brown and says that “Christmas break is the closest to Christmas so it makes sense for the Christmas season to start on Christmas break”.
Chapin High School Sophomore, Tyler Jeffcoat says that “Christmas doesn’t start until break but you get into the Christmas feeling in November.”
