Clemson Upsets #3 Duke

Brandon Yenco goes “Above the Rim” as he talks about the upset win for Clemson over Duke.

On Tuesday January 14th, the Duke Blue Devils took a trip to Clemson South Carolina to face the Clemson Tigers.  This was supposed to be a easy win for the Blue Devils but Clemson gave them a run for their money.  The Tigers ended the first half leading the Blue Devils 40 to 33.  A very humbling experience for the Blue Devils made them come out in the second half strong.  The Tigers expected this and leveled the playing field as the second half score was 39 to 39.

For the Tigers, the leading scorer was Aamir Simms with 25 points and 9 rebounds. Valuable contributors for the Tigers were Tevin Mack with 22 points and 9 rebounds, and John Newman III with 14 points.  The Tigers came into the game coming off a 2 game win streak over NC State and North Carolina. They were very confident that they could win this game even though many people doubted them.  The Tigers are now 3 and 3 in the ACC conference.  Duke is now 5 and 1 in the ACC conference. The leading scorer for the Blue Devils was Vernon Carey Jr. with 20 points and also had 7 rebounds, 2 steals and a block.  Duke has a chance to regain themselves as their next game is home against #11 Louisville.
